It was early December, when Juliette was planning a children’s end of term Christmas party when she tried to find a bouncy castle. When the weather isn’t great she knew a bouncy castle would be just the tonic for cooped up kids but she couldn’t get hold of one!
She decided there and then to set up Castles and Craft.
Juliette has always enjoyed crafts, face painting and working with children both professionally and voluntarily. Also, husband Bruce is a self employed joiner (with a van) so they felt confident they could successfully launch their business which they did in 2011.
Of course being parents of young children they enjoyed having a large network of friends whose children also enjoyed bouncy castles so business has been brisk.
And it’s not only children. As word has got out Castles and Crafts have invested in larger bouncy castles that can be used for teenagers, family parties, school fetes, country shows, festivals and weddings. What event doesn’t benefit from having a bouncy castle?
While the summer is the busiest time of the year for Juliette and Bruce with castles booked months in advance, their inflatables can also be found in many a village hall in the winter months.
However, despite the business growing it is still very much a family affair and Juliette and Bruce are determined to keep it that way.
The relationships we develop with our clients are really important to us and we know if we are doing the job it will be done right. After all a child’s birthday party is probably the most important day in the year for them so it has to be perfect”. We love running Castles and Craft as it’s something we can do together and to see the fun that these inflatables give to kids of all ages is so rewarding”.
